This page explains what the AI skin analysis can and cannot do, and how Dr Selina Clinics presents it under UK advertising, medicines and data-protection rules.

AI skin analysis — accuracy

Photographs can show how skin looks in that moment. They cannot examine skin the way a clinician can in person. We keep the language honest so nobody is led to believe this is a diagnosis.

• What this reading is

  A photograph-based observation of visible skin appearance — tone evenness, texture, shine, redness, pore appearance and fine-line appearance. It is an indicative guide to discuss in clinic, not a measurement from medical equipment.

• What this reading is not

  It is not a medical diagnosis, not a dermatology exam, and not a screen for skin cancer, moles, infection or any disease. It does not replace an in-person consultation with a qualified clinician.

• Why we do not quote a percentage accuracy

  UK advertising rules require evidence before efficacy or accuracy claims are made. This tool is not a clinically validated medical device, so we do not claim a diagnostic accuracy rate. Lighting, makeup, filters, camera quality, pose and skin presentation all change what a photograph shows.

• What a clinician adds

  A member of the Dr Selina Clinics team reviews your information. An in-person consultation can assess your skin, medical history and suitability for treatment in a way photographs cannot.

UK compliance

Aesthetic advertising in the UK is regulated. This experience is built to stay on the permitted side of those rules.

• Not a medical device

  This experience is not registered with the MHRA as software as a medical device. Its intended purpose is appearance observation and a pathway to consultation — not diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease.

• Adults 18 and over

  UK advertising rules for cosmetic interventions mean this experience is for adults. We do not target under-18s. If you are under 18 you will be directed to the clinic website without this analysis.

• Prescription-only medicines

  UK medicines law prohibits advertising prescription-only medicines to the public. Botulinum toxin and some injectable products are never recommended or promoted here. Suitability for any prescription treatment is decided only by a qualified prescriber after consultation.

• No guaranteed results

  Treatment names shown are from the public clinic menu and are suggestions to discuss — not a prediction of outcome, not a prescription, and not a claim that a treatment will work for you.

• Consultation required

  No treatment is provided through this tool. A consultation with a qualified clinician at Dr Selina Clinics is required before any procedure.

• Your photographs and UK GDPR

  Photographs are used only for this session’s appearance assessment. They are not used to identify you, build a facial-recognition template, or infer race, ethnicity or health conditions. You may close the browser to end the session. Contact details you choose to leave are so the clinic can follow up about this enquiry.

• UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) / CAP Code — including rules on cosmetic interventions and under-18s.
• Human Medicines Regulations 2012 — no advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public.
• MHRA guidance on software and AI — this tool is not presented as a medical device.
• UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — photographs and contact details.
• Consumer protection rules — no misleading claims or omitted material information.
